Foreign Bodies in the Ear, Nose and Throat

Dr Bren Dorman

Dr Bren Dorman, FRACS, Otolaryngologist Head & Neck Surgeon, has created a presentation on Foreign Bodies in the Ear, Nose and Throat. The presentation outlines the clinical picture associated with foreign bodies, outlines investigative and management options and also discusses the risks and complications, not only of the presence of, but also the removal of the foreign body.

He graduated in New Zealand and completed two Fellowships in Head and Neck Surgery, one in Boston and one in Liverpool. He has been a Specialist in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery since 1985 and has been the Service Clinical Director at Auckland District Health Board until 2018. He now works as a Specialist at Whangarei Hospital for the Northland District Health Board. He has extensive experience in a wide range of Ear, Nose and Throat disorders, in particular, voice, swallowing and airway disorders. He has experience in medical education and has been a OSCE member of the Part 1 Board of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He has spent two years as the President of the New Zealand Society of Otolaryngology Head & Neck.

He has an interest in Wilderness Medicine and has been the Medical Officer on multiple trips to the Antarctic and the Arctic. He is on the Medical Committee for the World Taekwondo Federation. He has completed volunteer work in Malawi and Zimbabwe with Pangea Global Health Education, and has also worked in Samoa, Fiji and Tonga.
